9. Editing Plays

Play Editor

Access the Play Editor by clicking on the button on tab ribbon

Play Editor

The Play Editor always opens to the current or last completed half inning

Change the inning in the menu to edit plays from a different half inning.

Making Simple Edits to a Play

To make a simple edit, click on the yellow Edit button next to the play you'd like to edit.

Making Simple Edits to a Play

Change the scoring decision and/or the out sequence of the play.

Note: when making simple edits not in the current half inning, certain options are locked out to prevent changes that could affect the integrity of the game's log.

For instance, you cannot change a scoring decision from the runner reaching to the runner being putout, and vice versa, as these changes would affect subsequent plays.

Whenever you make changes to a play that has runners or involves the batter reaching base, you will be brought to the Runner editor screen next.

Note: when you make changes to the base a runner reached, you may have to make changes to the runners in the subsequent plays for that half inning.

Once changes are saved, the new narrative for the play is displayed.

Making Changes to an At Bat's Pitches

To make changes to the pitches in an at-bat, enter the play's editor screen and click the 'Edit Pitch Sequence' button.

On the Pitch Sequence editor, select the pitch you would like to edit from the menu (the last pitch of the at bat is selected by default).

Use the pitch result menu to adjust the pitch.

Press the Save button to commit your changes. You'll see the pitch result in the 'Select a pitch' menu' update once saved.

Add a new Pitch
Add a new Pitch

To add a new pitch to the at bat, click the green Add Pitch button. (Note: the pitch will be added to the sequence after the currently selected pitch)

Select a result for the pitch

Save the pitch. (Note: pitches that do not have a result selected will be deleted automatically).

With the exception of strikeout, walks and hit by pitch, at bats should end with an In Play pitch (which is recorded in the pitcher's official pitch count as a strike).

When you have completed all required changes to the at bat's pitch sequence, clikc 'Return to Plate App.' to go back to the main play editor screen.

Advanced Play Editing

If you need to make advanced changes to a play (such as change an out to a hit, or change the batter or pitcher), click the yellow Unlock button at the bottom of the editor.

Note: advanced edits should only be made as a last resort as they can result in unexpected changes to the order of hitters.

Advanced Play Editing

Unlocked editing allows you to make changes to all fields, including batter, pitcher, putout and assists.

Once unlocked, you have access to all fields and options.

It also gives you the ability to make changes on the basepaths, including assigning runners and the pitcher responsible for the runner.

When you change an out to a hit and vice versa, you may need to manually adjust baserunners.

Inserting Plays

If you need to insert a play, you can do so from the Play Editor screen.

Navigate to the inning you would like to insert a play in and click the Insert Missing Play button.

Inserting Plays

Find the play you would like to insert before and click the corresponding blue 'Here' button

Choose the type of play to insert.

Note 1: Only insert at-bats as a last resort, as inserting an at-bat can affect the batting order for the entire game. When possible, undo all plays up to the point of the correction.

Note 2: When inserting subs, subsequent plays, up until the next substitution in that spot in the order, will be edited. The system will attempt to reassign all atbats, runners, and defensive stats, but you may need to confirm that subsequent plays are correct after completing the insert.
